Laura Jacobsen handles labor and employment law matters for clients in a diverse range of industries, including construction, gaming, manufacturing, outsourcing companies, and municipalities. Clients contact her to answer their day-to-day employment questions, review employee handbooks and employment policies, as well as to handle their more complex legal matters. Whether she is defending an employer before the Nevada Labor Commissioner’s Office, guiding employers through the sensitive matters, or litigating a discrimination case, Laura makes client communication a priority. Her primary goal is to resolve these matters in a fast and efficient way so that her clients can return their focus to their businesses.
Laura is a Reno native, and before returning to Nevada and joining McDonald Carano, Ms. Jacobsen practiced in San Francisco, litigating on behalf of large financial institutions. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edward C. Reed, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.
During law school, Ms. Jacobsen served as a legal intern in the Civil Division, Commercial Litigation Department of the U.S. Department of Justice, a judicial extern for then U.S. District Court Judge Brian Sandoval, and a summer intern for U.S. Senator Harry Reid.
